It opened my eyes to a whole new world October 18, 2008 M. Barnes (Oak Ridge, TN) This little book (and an accompanying video) opened my eyes to a new world (for me!!) I knew little of dog body language at the time, and most of what I had been told was erroneous. I use the "calming signals" knowledge routinely with my dogs, particularly because my Airedale, Border Terrier, and Blue Heeler live inside with me and can really cause chaos. I have learned to read what the dogs are saying to each other and to me. And it has motivated me to both read and study dog behavior -- a fascinating subject. This was the beginning of a better dog trainer and most importantly a much better dog owner.
disappointed September 14, 2008 Carol A. Hendricken (Alberta) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was very disappointed in this book. I expected to learn much much more. There was no depth or insight in this book.
Calm dogs equal good dogs September 13, 2008 Australian Canine Psychology Centre (Australia) A light book with some good advice but not a book that should be taken in its entirety as a failsafe "How to". Some of the advice is vague and some of the behavioural signals written about are confusing as too are many of the guides.
WOW! September 12, 2008 Karen A. Gendron (Klamath Falls OR) When I saw this online I thought it would be interesting but I underestimated just how good and how helpful this little book is to me! I am using the information to understand my dogs better and to respect their boundaries and needs. They bring so much to my life, it is only fair for me to be more understanding of their behaviors. This book helps one to know what dogs are thinking and feeling and communicating. Thank you!
help for my shy dog August 17, 2008 Donna McCarl (Gilbert , AZ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The booklet was not quite what I expected, but it did have some helpful tips for how I should interact with my shy dog. I did find that I was being seen as too dominate by the way that I looked and reached for my dog. By just changing some little thing, I saw a big differenc in my dog right away. If you are looking for a booklet with some quick tips, this is a good selection.
